Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
Mission Statement: The mission of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is to ensure the welfare, well-being and proper care and use of all vertebrate animals used for research and educational purposes at NYU Langone Medical Center and School of Medicine. The IACUC is committed to serving the public by ensuring compliance with all legal and ethical standards regarding the use of vertebrate animals in research and teaching. The committee reviews, requests modifications, and approves research and teaching protocols involving the use of live vertebrate animals, and oversees training and educational programs related to animal use.
AAALAC Accreditation: NYU Langone Medical Center Animal Care & Use Program is fully accredited by the Association For Assessment and Accreditation Of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC). The program has been AAALAC accredited since February 20, 1998. The most recent site visit was in February 2010, and continued full accreditation was issued on July 1, 2010.
Assurance Number: The Animal Care and User Program at NYULMC is in full compliance with PHS policy. Our Assurance of Compliance Number with the PHS is A3435-01.
